Sonjia
Mackey is the owner of E-Enable Me, a firm that specializes
in website accessibility and usability testing. Sonjia
is also working on her first book and several magazine
articles through Lion Queen Productions, a company
that she created to share her knowledge and visions
through the production of artistic and literary works.
At
an early age, Sonjia realized that people who can
seamlessly and effortlessly assume multiple and varying
roles and responsibilities are truly assets, to themselves
and to others. They have skills and experience that
transcend traditional boundaries, allowing them to
make positive contributions across functions and industries.
So Sonjia set out to create a career and education
"toolbox" that would provide her with the
"tools" needed to build a successful, yet
versatile career. Sonjia spent 9 years with Exxon
(later Exxon Mobil), where she held positions in the
areas of Business Controls, Financial Analysis, Contract
Negotiations, and Management. In one of her more interesting
roles, she managed all the packaging contracts for
the North American segment of Exxon Mobil, responsible
for the packaging of such well-known brands as Exxon
Superflo and Mobil 1.
Sonjia
later joined Sprint, where she helps the Government
Systems Division to embrace the world of electronic
business, showing them how they can strategically
use the Internet and Web to create awareness, generate
excitement, transfer knowledge, market goods and services,
and encourage customer sales and employee participation.
Some of her more specific responsibilities include
the integration of online and offline marketing efforts,
the development of marketing promotions and collateral,
and the coordination of employee and customer events
aimed at increasing awareness and sales. In this position,
Sonjia also led the team that developed the first
web-based new hire orientation program for a specific
Sprint division.
Sonjia
holds a B.S. in Finance and an MBA in Marketing and
Management, both from Louisiana State University in
Baton Rouge. She also received a graduate-level certificate
in E-Commerce from the University of Virginia in Falls
Church. Sonjia currently resides in Fairfax, Virginia.
